Define which files are included

The specification, claims, abstract and any figures are considered together. Agreeing which elements need translating at the outset reduces omissions and confusion between versions.

  • Collect the final version in a single set of files.
  • Check figure descriptions and reference numbers.
  • Specify whether search reports and related correspondence are included.

Share the languages, intended use and timing

Along with the target language, say which procedure or country the translation is for. Your requested delivery date may differ from the official filing deadline. Verify current filing conditions and deadlines with TÜRKPATENT, the relevant patent office or your authorised patent attorney.

Gather terminology resources

Earlier patents, product documents and approved terminology lists help establish the preferred wording. Checking that the same part or function is named consistently forms part of the review plan.

Discuss confidentiality before sharing the files

For an unpublished application, you can make the first enquiry without uploading a document. Send the necessary files once confidentiality, access and sharing arrangements have been agreed.

Translation standards

WIPO/PCT and EPO guidance for patent translation

For patent files, terminology, figure references and the versions to be translated should be considered together. Our WIPO/PCT and EPO guide explains the distinction between translation checks and patent filing requirements.

These pages describe an approach to quality informed by publicly available standard scopes and official guidance. They do not claim ISO certification, full conformity or institutional acceptance for Metis Global. The work and responsibilities that apply to your project must be confirmed separately in the quote.
